Observation of thickness dependence of magnetic surface anisotropy in ultrathin amorphous films.

چکیده
Ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and SQUID magnetometry measurements have been made on multilayers of amorphous FeioB30/Ag. The dependence of the magnetic surface anisotropy constant K, on the magnetic layer thickness 2L has been determined in the range 1.6 A ( 2L & 90 A using more than twenty samples. It is found that K, is constant for 2L ) 16.S A, but decreases monotonically towards zero as 2L decreases from 16.S A towards zero. The FMR results can be well described by a theory developed for ultrathin amorphous ferromagnetic layers.

Magnetic and Electrical Resistivity Study of Electroless Amorphous Ternary System (Ni-Co-P) show a qualitative dependence of crystalline phases formed during transformation on the annealing temperature and composition. Electrical Resistivity values increases with increase in cobalt content and samples with higher resistivity show lower temperature coefficients. The Initial increase in magnetiza...
متن کاملIn situ magnetotransport measurements in ultrathin Bi films: evidence for surface-bulk coherent transport.
We performed in situ magnetotransport measurements on ultrathin Bi(111) films [4-30 bilayers (BLs), 16-120 Å thick] to elucidate the role of bulk or surface states in the transport phenomena. We found that the temperature dependence of the film conductivity shows no thickness dependence for the 6-16 BL films and is affected by the electron-electron scattering, suggesting surface-state dominant ...
متن کاملInterplay between anisotropic strain relaxation and uniaxial interface magnetic anisotropy in epitaxial Fe films on (001) GaAs.
Grazing incidence x-ray diffraction study of Fe epitaxial ultrathin films (1.5-13 nm) on GaAs (001) reveals an anisotropy of both domain shape and strain, with [110] and [1-10] as the principal directions. It is shown that the observed thickness-dependent strain anisotropy, together with a uniaxial interface term, can provide an unambiguous explanation to the usual in-plane magnetic anisotropy ...
متن کاملMagnetic anisotropies in ultrathin iron films grown on the surface-reconstructed GaAs substrate
Magnetic anisotropies of epitaxial ultrathin iron films grown on the surface-reconstructed GaAs substrate were studied. Ferromagnetic resonance technique was exploited to determine magnetic parameters of the films in the temperature range of 4–300 K. Extraordinary angular dependence of the FMR spectra was explained by the presence of fourfold and twofold in-plane anisotropies. A strong in-plane...
متن کاملDetermination of critical thickness of spin reorientation in metastable magnetic ultrathin films
We investigate the spin reorientation of structurally unstable magnetic ultrathin films ~base films! using magnetic capping layers. The capping layers, whose effective anisotropy constant is opposite that of the base films, are grown on the base films with no transformed structure and induce a spin reorientation after exceeding a critical thickness. The critical thickness of the capping layers ...
